My name is Dr. Jacqueline Yu. I am a Board Certified Family Medicine Physician and Obesity Medicine Physician. I have been a Family Medicine Physician for 13 years and Obesity Medicine Specialist since 2017.  
 
Preventive care and lifestyle medicine have always interested me as most medical problems are preventable or modifiable through a healthy lifestyle.  
 
As a Family Physician, I work hand in hand with my patients to address issues such as: 
  • Hypertension

  • Diabetes

  • Hyperlipidemia 

  • Obstructive sleep apnea 

  • Depression and anxiety 

  • Knee and back pain

  • Recovery from a heart attack or stroke 

  • and other chronic medical conditions

 
That is, for the most part, brought on or made worse by an unhealthy lifestyle and weight gain.  
 
As a doctor, I believe in the old adage “an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.” As such, I feel that the best way to help my patients avoid these multiple medical problems and improve their way of life is to educate and guide them in making better choices regarding their overall health and well-being. However, due to our fast-paced days in the clinic setting, I cannot effectively discuss in-depth, emphasizing and reinforcing the necessary knowledge and techniques to help patients achieve their goals of losing weight and leading an overall healthier lifestyle. Hence, I decided to create this course to help my patients - and anybody else who might be interested - learn at their own pace and convenience.
 
Every small change we make to improve our health can make a big difference in the grand scheme. We just don’t see it right away. Every day is an opportunity to do what is best for our bodies. And seeing my patients slowly but surely achieve their health and weight loss goals inspires me to be the best I can be.
